新风相声学会由韩劳达、杨世彬等一群相声作家和演员于1986年发起，宗旨是继承传统曲艺，发展本土创作。
“新风”有多重意涵：新风格和老传统的结合，必须先有对老传统的深入认识，因此新风一直努力引进相声发源地的神州传统相声；相声的生命力在于能为当下社会的人群带来欢笑和思考，因此创作本土相声也一直是新风的方向。
多年来，新风和直落布兰雅、拉丁马士两民众俱乐部联合主办了多次曲艺演出，让新加坡爱好相声的观众享有欣赏中国曲艺名家的福分；2006年，20周年会庆之际，新风以一台《非常新加坡》的专场展示了本土相声的魅力。
学会的海外顾问是中国相声表演艺术家姜昆、唐杰忠、李立山。现任主席韩劳达是国家文化奖得主，于1995年获中国曲艺家协会颁发“荣誉证书”，表彰他对推动两国曲艺交流和本土相声创作所做贡献。
学会的杨世彬、黄家强、李城威、钱翰豪、苏维胜、纪庆荣，以及徐惠民、邱胜扬，都是享誉多年的相声演员。劳达、城威、维胜和惠民也在创作本土相声的工作上身体力行。学会从上世纪90年代起便致力于引进中国杰出相声作品和演出，给新加坡的相声带来无比丰盛的“笑的艺术”享受。
Sin Feng Xiang Sheng Society was established in 1986 by Ann Jong Juan, Yong Ser Pin and a team of Xiang Sheng writers and artistes.
Its vision was to promote the art of Xiang Sheng to the people in Singapore, to develop local scripts and artistes, and to improve the Mandarin standards of Singaporeans. Sin Feng promotes the merging of traditional and modern styles of Xiang Sheng. However, there is a need to understand the art of Xiang Sheng – where it was from; how it can provoke meaningful thoughts and bring laughter to the current society.
All of these help to shape Sin Feng’s direction in creating local Xiang Sheng scripts. Sin Feng had collaborated with Telok Blangah and Radin Mas Community Clubs over many years to bring high quality performances by well-known Chinese Xiang Sheng artistes. This allowed all Xiang-Sheng-loving Singaporeans to enjoy the art. In 2006, Sin Feng staged “Uniquely Singapore” as a celebration of its 20th anniversary.
This performance showcased the charm of Xiang Sheng through local talents. Well-known Chinese Xiang Sheng artistes Jiang Kun, Tang Jie Zhong and Li Li Shan form the society’s overseas consultants. Sin Feng’s first chairman, Mr. Ann Jong Juan, who was the recipient of the Cultural Medallion (Theatre) Award in 1990, also received the Broadcast Award from the China Federation of Literacy and Art Circles in 1995. These awards acknowledged his push for cultural exchanges between China and Singapore, as well as his contributions to local script-writing. Sin Feng Xiang Sheng Society is made up of several well-known Xiang Sheng artistes, including current Chariman, Johnny Ng, Yong Ser Pin, Lee Seng Hui, Chien Han How, Soo Wee Seng, Kee Keng Yong, Xu Hui Min and Qiu Sheng Yang.
Among them, Ann Jong Juan, Lee Seng Hui, Soo Wee Seng and Xu Hui Min have been producing local scripts over the years. Since the 1990s, Sin Feng Xiang Sheng Society has been bringing in China’s famous performances. The society will continue to bring the “Art of Laughter” to the Xiang Sheng scene in Singapore.
